((As stated above, this is open to all. But no one-liners. A decent sized post isn't hard at all! <--Frankie.)) The steps of the wolf were hesitant, leaving light tracks in the snow. She paused, and sniffed the air. With a sigh, the cat-wolf plodded forward. A low moan escaped from her lips, and she glared accusingly at the sky, as though it was to blame for something. The moon showed clear and beautiful in the night sky, and Frankie gazed at it, and let out a mournful howl, that sounded clear. Even singing her problems didn't make them better, and Frankie continued moving on, until she came to a small cliff in the mountain. Curling up in it, she looked around, wondering who would care if she went to sleep and never woke up. She'd see Father again, but he probably wouldn't be pleased with her. Frankie closed her eyes and tried to sleep, but recent memories flooded her mind, pounding against her eyelids. Father...Father...Father... Teaching her to hunt, teaching her to track. Father falling from the mountain...Father's last words. Frankie felt the tears come down. Father. His death had made her leave the artic that was her home, and journey to new lands. She would stay here for a while, then move on to a new place. Of course, she'd be going back home soon, when she could get over her fear of being exiled. "Father," she mumbled. "I wish you were still here..."

A large dragon called Aurum sat on top of a peak looking down at the large, cold, winter landscape below. Snow fell on top of his gold colored scales, but Aurum took no notice, for miles below he saw an animal of some sort. Aurum licked his lips and grinned, he hadn't eaten in a while perhaps this meal will be descent enough to last a few hours. Aurum couldn't wait any longer, he flew down from the peak as fast as he could assuming the creature was going to run away. Once he flew down Aurum took a good look at the creature, Cat.... He thought bitterly. He hated nothing more than the taste of cat on his serpent tongue. "What per-tell is fair young creature doing out here in the Dragon's Peak? Don't you know a cat such as yourself shouldn't be out here in the cold?" Aurum said grinning wickedly.

The fur on Frankie's back rose on end, and she had to control herself from lunging out and snapping. Mustering all her might, she said slowly, "Cat? I see no cats." Nothing on earth could irritate her more than being called a cat. True, her soul resided in the body of one of those wimpling creatures, but her soul was that of a wolf's. Or at least, it had been. Until now. Frankie shook her head, using the falling snow to hide her irritation. Curses upon memories! More tears burned in her eyes, but she didn't let them fall. A sign of weakness could not be shown among a could-be enemy many times her size. Instead she settled for stamping her back foot, a sign of irritation. Finally, she looked back up at Aurum. "And besides," she said. "Who gave you the right to pry into the business of an honest wolf?

Aurum stopped his snicker, yet a smile came out of him. "Wolf, eh?" he said in a mocking tone. Wolf, a cat whom thinks of herself as a wolf, pah! Aurum thought snickering to himself. " I will repeat my question, what are you doing here and where is your pack don't you wolves stay together?" I just called a cat a wolf.... Aurum thought embarrassed with himself. "So you say you are a wolf, yet I have never seen a wolf whom looks like a feline. What exactly are you, cat or wolf. Surely you cannot be both." ((ek, short post sorry.... ))

"Not all wolves live in packs." Frankie said coldly, not giving the real reason for her being alone--fear. "And I would not claim to be something I am not." The cat-wolf's foot twitched in irritation, and she began eying around for a place to run. The second she saw an open spot, Frankie dashed away, not looking back.

Aurum hissed a slow, quiet growl escaped his lips. He then took flight going quite low to the ground so he could snatch the cat-wolf from the ground. Although Aurum was more of a cat with a mouse, he wont eat it right a way, but more like taunt it, play with it, let it beg for mercy, and sometimes he would let the poor creature go, only if he wasn't too hungry. Aurum was right above the cat-wolf, he called out "Pah, wolf indeed I've known some wolves in my time I almost even ate one once, but he was so brave and noble I thought that he deserved to live, but you are not like any of the wolves I've known, you are cowardly running away like this, meat like this makes me queasy after I eat them!" Aurum was starting to get curious now, he had never seen a cat that clams she is a wolf and if she is a wolf then why is she alone?

Frankie's eyes flashed, but she continued running. When she spoke, her voice was surprisingly calm, cool, collected. "It is not," she said. "from cowardice which makes me run. It is sickness." As she finished talking, her foot twisted and she almost slipped, but she managed to jump up and find herself a place on a rock. It was high, and in the open. The cat-wolf could see for miles around. Frankie heaved a sigh of relief and glared defiantly at the dragon. She couldn't stand being in enclosed spaces with another creature. It made her sick to her stomach, and then there was that heart-wrenching fear. But on the rock, it was safe. Her anger at Aurum increased, and her fur bristled ever so slightly. "Now then." The voice that escaped her lips held no trace of the former 'sickness,' which felt like fear. But it was not calm, either. It was sort of heartbroken, guilty, and sad, for a painful memory had come as she thought. Father had helped her deal with her oddities. Like her 'room' back home, and other things. Father helped with everything. But now, he couldn't...Because of her. "Now then," Frankie repeated, trying to gather her firmness. "Why are you following me like some sort of deranged and mad creature. I shall say it again--what need have you to snoop around into my life?"
((Frankie's a wee bit claustrophobic, like Caesar.))

Aurum cackled, as he heard the question. "Apparently you would not know that this is not where you should be, this is not where you should sleep, this is not a place for a....er, wolf, this is where dragons are, hiding, killing and eating. Really I'm not too hungry or I wouldn't have asked any questions I would have simply plopped you into my stomach and fly back up to my dear peak which I rest on. So apparently, my dear you do not know these lands and I can tell that you are, oh how should I say it, lost hmm? And are you frightened of me for I some how correct me if I'm wrong sense a bit of fear on you." He said grinning at the cat-wolf again. "So are you going to talk or shall I eat you now? For I don't like stalling too much but I don't like making haste either.....so I would enjoy taking my time but not too much if you please." He flew over to a rock about two yards for Frankie and lay down on the rock. "Well, I've decided not to eat you so now what?" Aurum said tauntingly.

“Lost?” Frankie said. “No, I don’t think so. In fact, I’m perfectly aware of where I am.” She snorted, a look of contempt on her features, as she listened to his perfectly annoying blabbering. “I,” she said, with the air of snubbed royalty. “Fear no living creature.” Well, that wasn’t exactly true. Frankie feared her family. She feared her kind, loving Mother, and gruff Father. Like any good alphas, they were able to inflict fear in the hearts of the bravest of their followers. (Personally, Frankie considered herself the bravest, though Father had proven her wrong more times than could be counted. Certainly though she was the bravest cat-wolf.) Still, it was easier to put on that air of courage than admit that other beasts could frighten her. “I don’t know why I’m talking to you, dragon. You are atrociously rude,” Frankie’s voice still sounded royal, but also old-fashioned, serious. Father had to make an effort to hide his grins when she spoke to him, especially when others were around. It wasn’t as though she talked like this all the time, which made it rather funny. “And,” she continued. “You haven’t even told me your name, and I don’t make a habit of talking to strangers. Most polite people introduce themselves. Though,” Frankie mused. “I suppose not if one was going to eat one. But you did decide you wouldn’t, so you are now obliged to do so. That, one must suppose, is the ‘what now’ you were talking of.” Now even Frankie’s speech was starting to tickle her funny bone, and she had to hide a grin, the corners of her mouth twitching as she glared into Aurum’s eyes. She had no control over the twinkling in the eyes that had been earlier rendered depressed and miserable.

Aurum laughed for joy. "Very well I am called Aurum, I am here to make sure my clan is safe from the Black Heart Clan, a clan of dragons that we are at war with at the moment. Well what about you, were are you from?" He breathed in slowly, waiting for the cat-wolfs response. Aurum was quite tired, flying even short distances can make him feel weary.

"I am Frankie, of the Antha Pack. I live in Kin'tiac'la'nec, or--" Frankie stopped talking really quick. She hated it when somebody said "Or at least...I did." It never ceased to annoy her. Quickly, she covered up her speech. "But, I decided I...Well...I mean..." The calico cat-wolf halted and stumbled over words, flustered. She couldn't think of any excuse for why she was here. Exploring couldn't work, because she wasn't, neither did searching, for the same reason. Yet she couldn't, she wouldn't tell her real reason she was here. Running. It would ruin her forever. Running. But she was. Her family, she ran from them. Because they had to hate her. After what happened, they had to hate her. It was her fault after all. A flicker of sadness showed in her eyes as she looked at Aurum, and she swallowed hard, and put on that happier face. If she remembered the good things, she couldn't break down. D**n it, she hated these mood swings. How many issues could a beast have?

Aurum nodded and said "I am called Aurum I haven't moved from this territory ever and I belong in the Sundance Clan. Yet I have been separated from them and now they're gone...." The memory of when the other clan brought guilt pouring down his flesh. The dragon looked at all the dragons below, how peace full they were....how calm. He smiled knowing that his people were safe, away from danger, away from disaster. The dragon flew down to where a few dragons were talking quietly. "Well, hello Aurum, perfect spot you chose here eh?" The elderly dragon said. "Yes, its quite nice, it would take years for the BlackHearts to even notice that we left." Aurum said looking into the sky it had many dark clouds coming. How odd it was to see a fast moving pitch black cloud moving toward them on a bright, sunny day......Then he saw it, the cloud...it was not real but made of an army of black dragons flying toward them. The elders noticed it too. "Sound the alarm! Tell everyone to get ready to fight!" One of them yelled, but was tuned out by the beatings of wings flying toward them. "Theres too many! Aurum, we must leave!" Said another. Aurum glared at him "No." he whispered as he took off and flew toward the cloud of dragons. Aurum could hear screams and shouts of fear and anger at him, But he kept his eyes on the leader of the army. He flew and bit the leader on the neck. The leader hissed and tackled Aurum in the air they both came speeding down to the ground, bitting, scratching, and screeching then......everything went black. Aurum woke and no one was there, no dragons, nothing...it was so quiet...... Aurum quickly blinked the memory of his clan being taken away. He felt guilty, Aurum was guilty of the capture of his clan, his friends, his family. Aurum then felt sick to his stomach. He could have stopped that from happening he could have made it so that none of that would have happened...
((Yay, a long post!))

Looking uncomfortable, Frankie hastened to change the subject, once again fearing those memories, those dreadful memories. Father, she thought. Father, I'm sorry. So sorry. I wish I could have done more... I failed you my father dearest. Oh, I am sorry. A sigh escaped her, and she thought of something new to say. "So, Sir Aurum. You have never left this mountain? What of exploring, of seeing the world with your companions at your side, laughing and sharing the memories? What of dreams?"
((Rawr. Ist really short post.))

Aurum smiled, "Yes, I have left this mountain. I've explored all over, from forest to sea, mountain to lake all over!" He gazed at the sky for a moment letting the good memories fill him from head to tail. "Ah...the good times...yes, if only it were still here...." Aurum thought out loud, still looking up at the cloudy sky. His smile then faded thinking about his idiotic action that sent him here, alone, forever. "There are times though, my dear cat-wolf...in which one must defend the weak, and even the strong, from the wicked and black-hearted. And when that happens many of the happy memories you shared with your friend cannot be shared again, for he is gone. All the laughters you enjoy with the children, cannot be laughed again, for they have been taken. And for every joke or bit of wisdom from the elderly cannot be announced for they are gone....forever lost....forever, forgotten." Aurum's eyes started to water a bit of the memory of his dragons, his people. What became of them? Where are they? Are they mourning or laughing of the good days that are behind them? Many questions flooded his memory and yet he couldn't answer any of them. Not one single one.

((Ph34r the power of my late-replying-ness and....stuff.))
Frankie frowned. It made sense, yet it didn't. The calico cat-wolf didn't say anything, but sat there, and her ear flicked once, brushing off some snow. She didn't really have anything to say, and that made her uncomfortable. Frankie looked at her left paw, then at Aurum. Finally, she thought of something to say. It was an incredibly stupid thing to say, but she said it anyway. "Aurum," she said. "Would you care to...go on a hunt?" Frankie paused, then continued. "You did say you weren't going to eat me, and I figured what better way to pass the time then hunt something...What game is on this mountain, anyway?" Frankie was a pretty good hunter, for a wolf of her stature, anyways. She had hunted on many mountains, but never had she come here before, and didn't know what all resided here.
